Introduction
Just News. ("the App") is developed by Derouelle ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use information when you use the App. We are committed to minimizing data collection while providing a personalized news experience.
Information We Collect
We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the App. This includes: account information provided through Sign in with Apple (email address, which may be hidden via Apple's relay, and optional display name), a unique anonymous identifier, your selected topic preferences, device push notification tokens, and usage events such as briefing playback and topic interactions.
How We Use Information
Information is used to deliver your personalized daily audio briefings, synchronize preferences across devices, send push notifications when your briefing is ready, and measure product performance. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the App's core functionality.
News Content and AI Processing
Publicly available news articles from RSS feeds are processed using AI systems (OpenAI) to generate summaries and audio briefings. Your topic preferences determine which content is included in your briefing. We do not use your personal data to train AI models.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services strictly to operate the App: OpenAI for text summarization and text-to-speech audio generation, Expo Push Notifications for delivering push notifications via Apple Push Notification service (APNs), and standard cloud infrastructure providers for hosting and storage. These providers process data only as necessary to deliver the service. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
Data Storage and Retention
Account data and preferences are stored securely on our servers. Generated audio briefings are retained temporarily and automatically deleted after a defined retention period. Aggregated, non-identifiable analytics data may be retained longer to improve the service.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted communication (TLS), secure token-based authentication (JWT), and encrypted credential storage on your device.
Your Rights
You may request account deletion and removal of all associated data at any time by contacting us at apps@derouelle.com. Deleting your account will permanently remove your stored preferences, push notification tokens, and interaction history.
Children's Privacy
The App is rated 12+ due to the nature of news content, which may include coverage of violence, politics, and other mature topics. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
